THE ONLY SURVIVOR FROM HIS LITTER, WHAT HE NEEDED THE MOST WAS A MOTHER’S LOVE TO GET HIM THROUGH!
After his mom fell sick she was no longer able to care for her babies, and one by one they passed away. Until mainly due to his incredible will to survive, only Pluto was left. Thankfully, he was found in time and brought into Dorset Rescue Kittens.
“He was critical when we got him. He hadn’t fed from his mom in at least 24 hours, likely longer,” Cailey Seymour, the founder of Dorset Rescue Kittens, told the Kitten Cat Post.

“He had to be placed in an incubator with oxygen support and slowly rewarmed and rehydrated before we could feed him anything.”
After receiving around-the-clock care and attention Pluto gradually began to perk up, becoming the curious kitten he used to be.
“We didn’t know if he was going to make it and we prepared ourselves for the worst, considering none of his siblings survived,” said Cailey.

“It took about five days before we felt he was on the road to recovery. He started gaining weight and eating really well.”
Despite having made such a miraculous recovery, it was easy to see Pluto missed his mom and his siblings. Cailey knew something needed to be done. So when a momma cat and her six kittens arrived into Cailey’s care, a perfect opportunity presented itself. The kittens were all around Puto’s age and looked virtually the same.
“When we got mama Bib, I knew it would be a good move to see if she would accept Pluto,” said Cailey.
After Bib had adjusted to her new home and got used to humans it was time to introduce Pluto.
Cailey wrapped the tiny kitten and placed him near the happy mom, then waited to see what she would do? Without missing a beat, Bib wandered right over and nudged him back to her babies, then proceeded to take care of his needs.
“She didn’t even second guess it. She started grooming him and nuzzling him towards her own babies as though she knew he needed her. She has been so accepting of him—it made me cry,” Cailey explained to the Kitten Cat Post.

Once again feeling a mother’s love Pluto felt instantly at home.
“We are still supplementing him with kitten milk replacement as that is what he is used to, but it is so beautiful to see him with a family.”
“We put him in with the other babies so that he stays warm and can play with them.
Bib took Pluto right under her paw, giving him more attention than her own babies.
“She usually cuddles him while her babies nurse,” Cailey said.
“Nothing compares to the care a mama cat can provide or the socialization a kitten gets when raised with brothers and sisters,” Cailey said.
“Pluto is already playing with them and talking to mama as though he has known her his entire life.”
“We will continue to bottle feed Pluto as needed and keep a close eye on him.”

“I can put away his stuffies and heating pad because he has been granted the privilege of mama cuddles and kitten snuggles.”
